Personal accident cover for registered athletes
Who is covered?
All persons who-
Are 2007 license holders.Cover applies to all sanctioned events only
No cover applies to temporary ASA licence holders.
What is covered?
Bodily injury caused by violent accidental external and visible means which injury shall independently of any other cause be the sole cause of any of the results
whilst competing in a race, or
whilst involved in a training activity and/or meeting anywhere in the world.
The person must be on foot and suffer death or disability.
Cover is restricted to 2 (two) hours before the official start of a race until 2 (two) hours after the official finish of a race.
Attacks, muggings or rape fall within the operative clauses.
War and mutiny are excluded.
Cost of hiring a wheelchair is limited to R 15 000,00.
The Benefits
1) For paid-up members of AGN affiliated clubs with current AGN licence numbers who are 16 years and over but less than 70 years and Officials, marshalls and table helpers up to 75 years of age.

4) Mobility Cover
The insurance will pay the actual costs not exceeding the amount of R 15000.00 for the reasonable cost of a wheelchair, necessary alterations to the insured person’s home and/or modifications to the insured person’s motor vehicle if during the period of insurance an insured person is paralysed as a result of an injury whilst competing in an official ASA race.
Mobility cover means the permanent dependence by the insured person on a wheelchair for mobility as a direct result of an insured event for which the insurance has agreed to pay the benefit. The insurance will pay in addition to any other amount payable for:
1. a self propelled wheel chair
2. the modification of the controls of the insured person’s motor vehicle
3. and if necessary, the fitting of wheelchair loading equipment and alterations to the insured person’s residence to facilitate the use of such a wheelchair.
Claims must be submitted to the AGN Office within 15 days of the accident. Membership will verified In respect of each and every claim a member must report the incident to a race referee and the report must be forwarded to AGN.
