Management & Administration : Race and Licence Numbers

Race and Licence Numbers

No person resident in South Africa may participate in a meeting subject to the regulations of ASA or any of its affiliated associations, unless on the date of the meeting concerned he (or she) is the holder of a permanent or temporary licence granting permission to participate. Licence numbers are provided by ASA through AGN and clubs. Special numbers may be provided for a specific event (if approved by ASA).

Every athlete must wear and display two numbers during all competitions (front and back). These numbers will be the official licence numbers or the special event numbers. If event organisers provide only one number, the licence number must be worn on the back of the vest and the event number on the front of the vest. No licenses or race numbers may be worn on any place other than on the vest. Failure to adhere to this rule may lead to immediate disqualification.

Age and walker (“W”) category badges must be the official badges provided by ASA through AGN and the Clubs. These badges must be clearly visible at all times on both the front and the back of the vest. .

Race and licence numbers are not transferable. Where athletes change their place of residence during a calendar year, they must retain the licence until it expires.

Any registered person consciously participating against a non-licenced competitor in a meeting of any nature which is not sanctioned by the provincial body and ASA, will forfeit his (or her) licence.

Licences expire on 31 st December each year.

TEMPORARY LICENCES:

An additional fee will be levied for a temporary licence, over and above the entry fee for the competition.

Temporary licences are only valid for the event at which they are issued. Persons taking out temporary licences must sign an entry/indemnity form accepting the conditions of the race organisers and the rules of ASA.

No temporary licences will be issued to a suspended athlete without the permission of ASA.

No temporary licenses will be issued for distances exceeding 21.1km.
