The year 2006 poses a lot of challenges to all of us. Like in the past we have managed to face all our challenges and prevailed beyond our expectations. It is our duty as Athletics Gauteng North to create healthy conditions where our athletes, coaches, officials and administrators can thrive on, in our attempt to realize our objectives as set out in our Constitution. It is our responsibility as a collective to create equity in all spheres of our sport and contribute positively towards development and nation building.
As we begin another year we must commit ourselves to continued unity and transformation, as well as striving towards increased involvement and participation of women in athletics.
AGN as one of the leading provinces in South Africa seeks to entrench its status as a haven of champions. Our athletes are challenged to participate in our domestic events in order to perform excellently in national and inter-national competitions. They should do so through dedication and hard work, without engaging in any use of illegal substances to attain victory.
We also wish to acknowledge the significant contribution made by our athletes, coaches, technical officials, volunteers and administrators in making AGN one of the best provinces in the country.
Acknowledgement also goes to the National Lottery (NLDTF), the City of Tshwane, Gauteng Department of Sport and Recreation and Athletics South Africa for their generous assistance.
On behalf of AGN it is my pleasure to welcome all AGN members, new and old, into the year 2006. Let it be a year of victory and prosperity.
Thobeka Jozi
AGN President
